What if we find a planet like earth? Why scientists keep searching for an earth like planet?
Any planets that we find around other solar systems would be too far to travel to, unless we develop types of travel which scientists consider impossible, such as faster-than-light spaceships. This is the only planet that we can live on at the moment. Mars, the only other feasible option, lacks any protection from harmful rays, so a large colony would not survive for long there. Bringing resources from anywhere to Earth would be far too expensive. The main reason scientists keep searching is for attainment of knowledge. Knowing if there is any other life in the Universe, or in this galaxy, is one of the main unanswered questions in science. .
