What if there is an active Civil Protection Order?
After the Individual Assessment Meeting with the parties, the Mediator will establish if everyone can negotiate for themselves without coercion or intimidation. The Mediator then determines if the case is appropriate for mediation. If so, the Mediator will conduct a “Shuttle Mediation” in which the parties meet in separate rooms, avoiding any contact or direct communication with each other. This style allows the Mediator to express to the parties each others individual concerns in a matter and tone that is conducive to mutual understanding, while honoring the Civil Protection Order.
