What if the whole sentence, not just the underlined part, looks wrong?
It might not always seem this way to you, but the portion of the sentence that isn’t underlined is always correct. This means 1) don’t get hung up thinking “I would change this whole sentence, not just the underlined part,” 2) only look for errors in the underlined part, and 3) use the part of the sentence that isn’t underlined to help you find errors in the underlined section.
