What if the responsible driver is issued a ticket?
If a traffic citation or citations are issued to any of the other drivers, you should make a concerted effort to attend the court date. When you arrive at court, make your presence known to the prosecutor or states attorney and tell them that you are available to testify. Be sure to inform the prosecutor or states attorney that you would like to secure a conviction. If you cannot make it to court, call the prosecutor and tell them ahead of time you are unavailable, and again, inform them you wish to seek a conviction. Securing a conviction does not conclusively establish that the other driver was at fault for the accident, but the conviction does conclusively determine that the driver to whom the citation was issued committed the offense as charged.
