What if the patient’s stockings or socks seem too long?
Because Scholl compression hosiery has considerable elasticity, patients may take their garment too far up their leg by pulling too hard. If the patient feels their stockings or socks are too long, advise them to take them back down to the ankle and refit, pulling more gently. Compression stockings or socks should NEVER be folded over at the top, as this will make a tight band around the leg, reducing the flow of blood.
