What if the parents are divorced? Who can apply for MIChild?

0

If the parents have joint custody, the parent the child lives with the majority of the time should apply. The income of the parent the child is living with when the application is filed will be used to determine eligibility. The other parent’s income information is not used to determine MIChild or Healthy Kids eligibility. If one parent has full custody of a child, that parent should apply. The income of the non-custodial parent will not be considered. Support paid will be budgeted as income.
