What if the OraFresh™ treatment doesn’t seem to work for me?
• Improper use of the rinse (non-compliance): Approximately 85% of periodontal pathogens (Gram negative and positive anaerobic bacteria) are sensitive to our main antibiotic rinse. However, in order for this antibiotic to work effectively, the target bacteria need to be continuously exposed to a minimum concentration of the drug. This concentration is 4.5 micrograms per milliliter [mg/mL]. Thus exposed the bacteria will be unable to replicate and eventually die out. In order to keep the level of our antibiotic rinse high enough to work, it has to be replaced every eight hours If in the infected area the level of antibiotic is not maintained at the minimum level the anaerobic bacteria will reproduce quickly and reach their original populations in a matter of hours. Bacteria are able to double the size of their colonies every 4.8 hours if the antibiotic levels drop below the minimum effectiveness threshold.
