What if the money came from Quizmos or Whole Foods or Bed, Bath, and Beyond?
11. I know that Denver needs money to maintain existing parks. New parks would have to be built in new infill areas. The developer should pay for them. His name should not be on them. Denver’s Urban Renewal Authority hands over millions of our tax dollars to these developers. I am not a fan of corporate welfare. The developers then charge outrageous amounts for the homes they build. The least they can do is build parks for area residents. I mean real parks – not anything similar to the concrete park in Stapleton. I am not happy with the present Manager of Parks and Recreation. The entire concept of serving liquor in the parks was seriously flawed. It is ridiculous to permit this absent a strong police presence and adequate bathroom facilities. I do think that several members of the P & R Board have done a superb job. I have found that Denverites have a peculiar attitude towards public buildings, parks and the like.
