What if the Java applet will not load?
: Many of the on-line surveys, scenarios, and exercises are presented in a Java applet. You will need to use a Java equipped browser (such as Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer). In addition, you will need to have Java “enabled.” On most computers, this is the default setting, meaning you won’t have to do anything. However, if you click on the “Start” link and the screen remains blank after a minute (it takes the applets a while to load), check to make sure Java is enabled. Begin by backing up to the instruction or consent screen. Then in Netscape Navigator, you enable Java by selecting “Edit” from the main menu at the top of the page, “Preferences” from the bottom of the menu that pops up, and “Advanced” from the last item in the menu. Check the box labeled “Enable Java.” Click “OK” once to return to the instructions screen. In Microsoft Internet Explorer, you enable Java by selecting “Tools” from the main menu at the top of the page, “Internet Options” from the bottom
