What if staff say they do not want to take the additional leave until they have been assimilated?

Managers still need to log the annual leave and bank holidays taken in accordance with the new policy to ensure that staffs entitlements are correctly calculated. It may take some time before some staff groups are assimilated. The point of introducing the annual leave arrangements in advance is to avoid an unnecessary build up of annual leave and enable staff to take their new entitlement in the current leave year. We would hope that staff would want to take advantage of the new provisions sooner rather than later. During this transitional period managers will, in any case, be expected to accept reasonable requests for the carry over of annual leave in order to facilitate the transition to the new arrangements. In future years however, it will be expected that staff will be able to take all of their annual entitlement in the same leave year.
