What if someone wants to use Cookum to run a professional catering service?
They are not allowed to do so, even if they are licensed caterers. Cookum’s Terms of Use expressly prohibits anyone from using the Cookum to run a commercial enterprise. Cookum is about connecting individuals in a community who share a love of home-cooked food. Cookum believes that charging a fair price for the cook’s time, effort and ingredients is consistent with that vision, but using the website to facilitate running an institutional food service operation is not. It is in part because use of the website is limited to personal transactions in the community that Cookum management believes that those transactions satisfy the Model Food Code’s exception from the definition of “food establishment”.
