What if Rainforest Nations don have the capacity to stop deforestation?
Not all Rainforest Nations will have the capacity to implement the emergency package right away. Therefore, the PRP suggests that the proposed Tropical Forests Facility should work with development agencies to build institutional capacities and political will within Rainforest Nations. At the same time, the PRP is confident that a sufficient number of countries, representing the three main rainforest regions and containing some of the largest areas of rainforest, will be ready to engage with the emergency package quickly. Therefore, this proposed mechanism would be able to achieve a significant and rapid reduction in the global rate of tropical deforestation.
