What if parents are divorced or separated?

In the case of a divorce or separation, the School requires both parents to file an application for Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) to SSS (for the custodial parent) and to the school (for noncustodial parent). In addition, the school requires both the custodial and the noncustodial parent to submit a complete financial aid application. Please contact Zita Hernandez via email or at 310.889.2653 if you require an additional financial aid packet. The award process cannot be completed without full information from both parents.

Before making an award, the Director of Financial Aid considers the assets of both natural parents. Both the custodial and the non-custodial parents must file the standard Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) with SSS, and both must also submit copies of their complete 2007 and 2008 tax forms, including schedules, to Hotchkiss. If the custodial parent has remarried, the assets of the stepparent are considered also, bearing in mind the obligations of that stepparent to his or her natural children.
