Create ‘shims’ (spacers) to keep the book from fanning out. Just cut away portions of the folios to create the space, thereby keeping the structure in its traditional shape. Be creative. Use deckle-edged scissors and cut the paper off in unusual ways. Use onion skin paper or decorative tissues to frame and overlay the treasures.
