Early withdrawals from the U.Plan are difficult since the investments are illiquid assets. We consider exceptions on a case-by-case basis for hardship situations. MEFA requires a formal written request. Approved requests are processed annually in August. An early withdrawal no longer entitles the beneficiary to a specific percentage of tuition and fees at participating U.Plan colleges.
