A notice in writing shall be filed with the Administrative Office that the attorney desires to voluntarily assume inactive or retired status and discontinue the practice of law. Upon transmission of such notice from the Administrative Office to the Supreme Court, the Court shall enter an order transferring the attorney to inactive status, and the attorney shall no longer be eligible to practice law but shall continue to file the statement required by this rule for six years thereafter. Click here to download the form to assume inactive status. Note: If you have a valid license card, it must be returned with the completed form.
