What if I have money with the Commonwealth Bank and BankWest?

A. On the 18th December 2008 the Federal Government approved the Commonwealth Bank’s acquisition of Bankwest. Bankwest will continue to operate as an authorised ADI. For the purposes of the Government Guarantee this means the Commonwealth Bank and Bankwest continue to be separate authorised deposit-taking institutions – so you can receive the $1m fee free threshold at the Commonwealth Bank as well as at Bankwest. We will keep customers informed of any change to this status.
