What if I have Condenser and Dynamic mics?
In most cases, phantom power from a mixer will not harm a dynamic microphone. Basically, if the microphone needs the power, it will draw it. If the power is not needed, it will cause no problem. The exceptions are ribbon mics (not a common type these days), and older dynamic microphones. They may actually be damaged from phantom power. If your dynamic microphones were manufactured within the last 30 years or so, you’re not likely to have any phantom power problems.
