What if I get my pet microchipped before the legislation is passed?
It will still be necessary to register your dog with the local council until the new laws are passed. However, once your pet is microchipped and registered with the AAR, that will not have to be done again when the legislation is finally passed. Meanwhile, your pet will be permanently identified, with a greatly increased chance of you being able to find it again if it becomes lost, stolen, or strayed.
