What if I don’t want to renew the franchise after 5 years but wish to carry on trading?
There is no obligation to renew the franchise, however, you could no longer trade as abacus and would therefore have to change your company name. You would no longer have access to the help lines or the ancillary services. You would also have to change your phone number as the 08700 number belongs to head office. We would also be able to sell the territory to another accountant who would be a competitor to you.
