What if I dont want the Standard Possession Order what then?
The parents may agree to a different visitation schedule that would better suit them and their children or, the court must be persuaded that the SPO is not in the best interest of the children. Often parents use the SPO as a starting point to design their own schedule. You should consider what schedule is reasonable for both parents to maintain and mitigates disruption to the children when balanced against the benefit of them having frequent and continuing contact with both parents. In order to approve or grant a possession schedule different from the SPO, the court may consider the following items: 1. The age, developmental status, circumstances, needs, and best interest of the child; 2. The circumstances of the managing conservator and of the parent named as possessory conservator; and 3. Any other relevant factor.
