If you are already in J-1 visa status of “Research Scholar” or “Professor” in the U.S. you may be able to transfer you’re your current institution to UNC-CHAPEL HILL. Please send us your CV, a legible photocopy of your I-94 card (front and back), visa stamp page from your passport, current DS-2019, and passport information page as well as providing us the original date you entered the U.S. as a J-1 scholar (if different from your current I-94). *If you access to a scanner, you may scan these documents and email them to us for quicker processing. Our email address is oisss@unc.edu. OISSS will look at all these documents to insure you are able to transfer to UNC-CHAPEL HILL as a J-1. If the transfer is approved, we and the sponsoring UNC-Chapel Hill department will send you some documents to fill out including a transfer fax that you will need to sign and take to the international scholar advisor at your current institution.
