What, if anything, can the Alabama Legislature do to create an atmosphere for job creation?
First and foremost we need to address campaign finance and ethics reform to restore confidence in our Legislature. Then, by cutting taxes, eliminating wasteful spending, and by ending the practice of legislative double dipping in our education system, we can invest that money in economic development and infrastructure improvements to bring quality jobs to Lee, Russell, and Tallapoosa county. We are so blessed in Senate District 27: we are poised to create more jobs than anywhere else in the state. With arguably the best vacation spot in the state at Lake Martin in Tallapoosa County, the upcoming BRAC realignment in Russell County, and with Auburn University in Lee County, we have several economic engines which can be utilized to attract quality jobs and economic investment in this district.
