To ensure Macquarie University’s procedures are in line with current requirements of NSW Department of Primary Industries and the Australian Code of Practice for the Care and Use of Animals for Scientific Purposes, 2004 (Sections 3.1.12; 3.3.24; 4.5.4) the following policy must be followed: The Animal Welfare Officer must be notified of any unexpected deaths or adverse effects within 72 hours. The AWO will report such deaths or adverse events to the AEC at the next opportunity.
