What if America have a third political party as influential as Dem and Rep?
It won’t happen. The problem is that in the process of gathering support to itself, a third party inherently weakens the existing party most closely aligned to it ideologically and strengthens the party least like it. This produces adverse results (Clinton winning in 1992 because Perot voters didn’t vote for Bush 41, Bush 43 winning in 2000 because Nader voters didn’t vote for Gore). Unless we have a constitutional convention and restructure our government with things like proportional representation, instant-runoff voting, etc., we are pretty much stuck with the same two-party system. It sucks…but that’s the truth.
