What if a school bus is used in fire fighting efforts after it is inspected by the MHP?
Once a school bus passes inspection it can be used on a school bus route, even if it is used to transport fire crews after the inspection. The Montana Highway Patrol has the authority to do an additional inspection at anytime, and the owner/operator of the school bus may request an additional inspection. Can the Montana Highway Patrol do the inspection while the school bus is in use by fire fighting crews? The inspection can be done at any location, depending on the availability of an inspecting officer. It will be up to the owner/operator of the school bus to coordinate with the Montana Highway Patrol on when and where the inspection will be done.
