What if a particular academic major is not on the ACM list of approved programs?
If the public institutions in your home state do not offer degree programs in your field of study, it may be possible to arrange a waiver of out-of-state tuition to attend a cooperating public institution of higher education in another participating state. Applicants should enclose a copy of the college catalog description of the program and include the course descriptions along with the ACM application. Occasionally, institutions add programs upon request. For example, if a student requests a certain program that is not on the approved ACM list, the State Certification Officer determines whether or not a substantially similar program is offered in Maryland.
