What if a location loses money?
We are careful to place locations where we know they can succeed. Still, it can take time for a new business to start making a profit. We subsidize the locations until they are profitable. Seeing Hands Leon, for example, is not yet self-funding (as of March 2008). Every month their revenue increases, and they have a reserve of money left over from a $5,000 grant they were given by the Polus Foundation. At the rate of revenue growth, they will become self-funding before their reserve runs out, but if they do not, we will help them financially.
