What if a homeowner does not remove their non-certified stove by May 31, 2008?

For homeowners and business owners who have not made previous arrangements with the Town for a time extension, the owners will be in violation of the Town Municipal Code. When the Town becomes aware that an owner still has a non-certified stove, the Town will take code compliance action to ensure the owner complies with the Municipal Code. The Town may issue citations for the violation: the first citation may be up to $1,000, the second citation up to $2,500, and the third citation up to $5,000. Homeowners will no longer be eligible to receive a rebate for the removal of their non-certified stoves. Also, if you request a final inspection after May 31, 2008 for a building permit with a valuation of $5,000 or more, the building inspector will verify that the home complies with the Municipal Code before the permit is finaled.
