What ice-cream brands are made with cream (in Canada)?
I am not only from Canada, I am a former chef, and your going to have to look at more the premium brands, Haggen Daz, some of the Sealtest, local brands, here in Toronto I like the St Clair brand, Stoney Creek, out west and I have not been there for a few years you may have to look to smaller private labels. If you lucky enough to have an Italian ice cream manufacturer, they make nice real ice creams and lighter gelatos which are milk based. Modified milk ingredients can mean cream but it has been treated or condensed so it has to be labeled as modified, the same with corn syrup and emulsifiers, they just make the ice cream seem creamier when you eat it, one way to have a better quality ice cream is try making it yourself, the churns with the freezable cylinder make nice stuff and are reasonably priced now, and with summer here and the fresh fruits out, I make a killer strawberry one from the local Ontario strawberry, better than Haggen Daz. Let me know if you need recipes.
