What housing options do students have?
Because the school does not have any housing to offer, it is the student’s responsibility to find his/her own housing. The real estate market in San Diego is relatively expensive. Consequently, most single students coming from outside of San Diego County choose to share a rental apartment with one or more roommates, typically other HSE students. The average 1-bedroom apartment in San Diego rents for about $1300/month and the average 2-bedroom for about $1600/month, although students who shop around can find lower rent than this. There are several rental apartment complexes very near to the school. For single students willing to share a two or three-bedroom apartment with several roommates, monthly rent can be as low as $300 per person including utilities.
