Holguín is the capital city of the northeastern province of the same name in the country of Cuba. Holguín is an area where lovely mountains work their way down to white sand beaches. Punta Lucrecia–located in the Holguín province–is the location where Category 3 Hurricane Ike first came ashore, battering Cuba with a brutal storm surge and winds in excess of 100 miles per hour. Most of the damage involved roofs being torn away, power lines being toppled and flooding.
