What hotel will be at Osceola center?
The 30-story Westin hotel planned for Osceola County’s Convention Center is up in the air. Literally. Negotiations surrounding what potentially could be the tallest building between Tampa and Orlando began this week to determine how big — or small — the hotel might be. The hotel is part of a winning bid for the convention center submitted by Xentury City Development Co. In its original request, the county solicited a proposal to include a 600- to 800-room, three-star quality hotel to be built by the center. The Xentury City proposal unanimously adopted by the county commission, though, is somewhat grander, and more specific: a 1,000-room hotel, prominently portrayed in the artist’s renderings as a Westin. Since then, as the song says, there have been some changes made. The building may not be 30 stories tall. It may not have 1,000 rooms. And it may not be a Westin.
