The show began with Kyle, Horatio’s son being arraigned for kidnapping and unlawful detention. The judge told him that he would be tried as an adult and then he told him that he would be remanded until his next hearing. Kyle was cuffed and led to a bus headed toward the jail where he would be held. A group of real bad-asses, supposedly the “modern day Jesse James” and sidekicks were led out of the court to board the same bus. There was a throng of admirers for the nasty men, but they would have to be remanded in the same jail as Kyle. Horatio suggested to Det. Tripp that the “bus driver looks like he could use some help.” Tripp replied, “I’m on it,” and he boarded the bus to keep an eye out for Kyle. On the way to correctional facility, the bus was hit head-on by a pick-up truck. The bus driver was knocked unconscious and Trip was thrown to the ground.
