What Honours Did John Barnes Win As A Player?
After starting his career at Hertfordshire club Watford in nineteen eighty one, John Barnes helped the Hornets enjoy their greatest ever period of success. Although the club didn’t win anything outright, they twice finished runners up in the league championship in the eighty one, eighty two season and then again the following season in the eighty two, three season. Barnes also helped the side reach the FA cup final in nineteen eighty four where the Hornets were well beaten by Everton. In nineteen eighty seven Barnes moved to Anfield, winning the league championship in his first season, finishing runners up in the FA cup too. The following season (eighty eight, eighty nine), the reverse happened, with the reds finishing runners up in the league to Arsenal, but defeating neighbours Everton in the nineteen eighty nine FA cup final three, two. Another league title followed in nineteen ninety, before his final honour as a player in the league cup of ninety five.
