What high school and college courses will be needed to get into college to be a vet?
My daughter wants to be a veterinarian, so we have been researching this a lot. You should take as many math, and especially science, courses as you can. Also document any and all experience you have with animals-from your own pets, to volunteering at the local SPCA, to shadowing your vet or what not. Any programs that your local zoo or aquarium has, be sure to attend and get them to sign something for you. Vet school is highly competitive, and there are many more applicants than there are spaces so you need to really make yourself stand out. Outstanding grades across the board (not just the math and science), volunteer work, animal experience, etc. Check out the websites for the various schools that offer vet degrees and see what their requirements are. I know that Auburn, for example, requires applicants to have taken Organic Biology and Organic Chemistry. You also need to see what schools feed into the vet schools.
