What have other teams who run CAPA think about Choice?
To quote from one: key is the Choice session with a really clear focus on collaborating between clinicians and their formulation and what the family want to work on and where they want to be rather than the expert-knows-best idea of what the family needs to work on. The magic is in creating a very strong therapeutic alliance with the family and the idea of change this is the bit that was a leap of faith for me but it has been an eye opener to see how well families can have an alliance with change and not just with the clinician they see at the first session. We all know that the alliance is the most important part of any intervention, this model makes this very explicit from the start. It also helps families own the change process. I think it is a very respectful way of working. See also our staff feedback.
