What have been the highlights and lowlights for Cotlands in 2003?
Highlights: • 13 children are receiving antiretroviral treatment through the generosity of Corporate sponsors and we have been privileged to witnessed the outstanding results, one of which is an improvement in quality of life. • We have achieved successful adoption and foster care placements, giving children a chance at a normal family life. • We opened a second paediatric hospice in the Western Cape, with the capacity to care for up to 30 children at any one time. • We are in process of planning to opening an orphan care facility for children who have been identified through our home based care programme, needing temporary care until placement is arranged. Lowlights: • We continue to loose children to HIV/AIDS and are experiencing difficulties in finding families who are prepared to adopt/foster positive children, even those who are well and now on treatment. • Cotlands needs to relocate, one of the reasons being due to a lack of space in order to effectively expand services to meet t
