What Has Triggered Kittys Litter Box Problems?
The first thing I’d say about this is that he isn’t ignoring his litter box just to pee you off (sorry about the cheap joke!) Cats have a reputation for being perverse, but in reality they aren’t nearly as devious as many people think. They don’t lie around for hours plotting and scheming ways to accelerate your demise. Your cat wants to be loved and admired by you (albeit on his terms!) He’s not on a mission to upset you or make you angry. Shouting at him doesn’t solve this problem. Neither does rubbing his nose in it. Punishment is pointless. He won’t understand why you’re mad at him, so he’ll get stressed out. And in that frame of mind, he’s even more likely to pee somewhere he shouldn’t.
