What has the American Red Cross spent for the Haiti Earthquake response so far?
Since the earthquake, the American Red Cross has spent approximately $112 million, with about 50 percent of the money spent on emergency relief, such as food; 39 percent for shelter; 5 percent for livelihood development through activities such as cash assistance; 5 percent for water and sanitation; and 1 percent for health. Because of the generosity of donors, people in Haiti will receive immediate relief and resources, as well as the necessary support and training to help them recover and rebuild. The Red Cross will continue to invest the money entrusted to us by the American people in the most responsible way possible.
