What has Mason done to stretch its levy dollars?
When the last operating levy was passed in 2001, the district pledged that it would last until 2005. Over the past four years, district enrollment has grown by more than 2,500 students, an increase of 27%. To help stretch levy dollars, the district has made $3 million in annual cost reductions in areas such as personnel, equipment and energy usage. Mason now spends $385 less per pupil than the average district in Ohio. Compared to other districts rated “Excellent” by the state, Mason spends $452 less per pupil. Meanwhile, Mason is ranked 6th out of 613 districts in Ohio for its overall academic Performance Index Score!
