What has made the fellowship with Sarasota County unique?
The way Sarasota County operates complements the fellowship program in every possible aspect. The county’s focus on creating networks of talent to tackle difficult jobs creates opportunities for the fellows to learn and contribute at a level that otherwise might not be possible. Sarasota County has provided many unique opportunities for its fellows such as dynamic classes for professional growth, participation in work sessions conducted by nationally known leaders of New Urbanism, and specialized training in GIS and process mapping. Andrea will be using her enhanced GIS skills in the near future as she begins work with the County Health Department defining target populations for health services. In addition to the opportunities provided by the county, the experience of working with the three other 2006 fellows has greatly enhanced the experience.
