What has happened to the golf channel uk on sky 423 ,why is it no longer on air?
JJB Sports bought the company which had the UK broadcast rights for Golf Channel UK (Golf TV). The website now pushes you to a JJB shopping site. So it has come off air as a result of that acquisition. Clearly others didn’t know much either. I’ve asked IMG who claim to have international TV rights for the LPGA with no response and the LET who issued a press release yesterday about LET stars on the next Big Break were unaware that the Golf Channel UK was off air. So why it is no longer on air is known, what is not known is whether it will come back in some form and similarly what would happen to LPGA broadcast rights etc. If JJB are not interested in them then someone out there may be interested in Golf Channel UK broadcast rights etc……. I wouldn’t hold out much hope for Setanta on this. They have a warchest for TV rights but they need to get eyeballs so their warchest will be focused on the biggest eyeball return per euro.
