What has happened since the Home Secretarys announcement about the SLA?
We didn’t wait until the Home Secretary’s decision but started the implementation planning when the proposals were submitted in order to maintain momentum and introduce the changes as quickly as possible. This first stage has included; appointing a chief executive; forming a project team to work with myself, management and staff to deliver the programme of work; planning new systems to underpin the new working arrangements; establishing a detailed implementation plan; establishing a governance board, chaired by the chief executive who will be the senior responsible owner; planning the implementation of cash saving to fund service improvements against anticipated delivery dates and completing the two-phase staff placement exercise. We looked at the new structure we’d put into the proposals and gave staff the opportunity to express an interest in the roles they would like to undertake in the future.
