What has emerged from the monitoring of implementation of the present legislation?
Given the shortcomings in implementation of the legislation identified by the EC and, in particular, the IPPC Directive, action needs to be taken. The late implementation of the legislation is unacceptable, especially in situations where further contributions to emission reductions are necessary to meet environmental objectives as indicated, as in the EC’s Thematic Strategy on Air Pollution, for instance.
