What has democracy got to do with the New World Order (so-called US imperialism)?
After reading Mosley’s book I am none the wiser. Mosley’s argument, as best I can understand it, is that the New World Order is democracy gone wrong. He argues that we now live in corporate states, exemplified by the USA, in which corporations and politics go hand in hand to seek global power and loot. That the USA (along with other developed countries such as France and Russia) is unacceptably meddlesome in foreign countries is beyond doubt. Furthermore, democracy is always capable of becoming and has on numerous occasions become tyranny of the majority. On these two important points, Mosley is fairly lucid and reasoned. However, he provides little evidence for a causal link between the two. The best he can offer is that democratic rulers foster support by creating enemies against which people need to unite.
