Under the new rules, consumers must Opt-In, or affirmatively consent, to a bank’s overdraft service for ATM and everyday, one-time debit card transactions. Unless a consumer Opts-In, a bank will not authorize charges which will overdraft the account and charge overdraft fees for an ATM or everyday debit card transaction.
