What has Bell & Howell done to ensure Y2K compliance?
Over the past few years, we have been assessing the impact of Y2K-related issues on all our products and internal computer systems. Based on our progress to date, and assuming that the remaining issues can be addressed as planned, we believe that the Y2K issue will not have a material adverse impact on Bell & Howell. Our compliance strategies include a complete inventorying of all potentially affected technology, developing solutions plans, modifying and replacing systems as necessary, testing and certifying systems and software, and developing contingency plans as appropriate. And because we rely on many third-party suppliers, we have a comprehensive supplier-compliance program in place as well. We completed a major portion of our Y2K initiatives in 1998. In fact, some of our businesses, like our Imaging Solutions unit, announced product compliance as early as April 1998. We fully expect any remaining project work to be finished before the end of 1999.
