What has been UPMC’s role in the evolution of global medicine?
The need and desire for good medical care is universal. With the globalization of communication, everyone knows what good medicine is, everybody wants it, and health care is at the top of most governments’ agendas. Global medicine was in its infancy when UPMC opened an international center for specialized medicine in Italy a decade ago to fill a critical need in the Mediterranean basin for organ transplantation.
