What has been the role of PETRONAS in knowledge transfer?
It is very unique for a Malaysian company to be involved in both exploration and production. Our involvement with PETRONAS has given us experience, but knowledge transfer comes from our foreign partners – like our strategic partnership with reputable international partners. The majority of Orogenic employees with major work experience in multinationals like ExxonMobil, Shell, Esso, Halliburton and Schlumberger have also brought in necessary expertise to make us very competitive. Today, of our 200 employees, 90% are Malaysian and 95% are high-spec technical staff. We are proud to say that Orogenic is among the single largest local G & G employer in Malaysia with more geologists – 60 in total. So in a way, PETRONAS relies on our knowledge in G & G and as a full fledged Malaysian company, we are more than please to serve our national oil company.
